Brew Fest Update

Where are we at with Brew Fest…..????

As far as I know Brew Fest at Bushel and Peck’s is not going to happen.  I have not received any updates about this, nor have I really asked for any. For those who brewed beer for this event, I’ll say sorry. I also brewed for this event.  More beer for us!

Here is some information I have about having Brew Fest at Sud’s. I talked with Tom and he said we could pick any date we would like as long as he didn’t have anything booked. I asked if Saturday was OK and he said no problem. I asked about starting times and he said what ever we want to do. I also asked about SBS calling in vendors of our choice, again he said do what ever we want. I think we could make this into a cool event.

Mike had a good idea at the last meeting. He thought maybe having the Brew Fest the same month every year.  I think that would cut down on confusion and have something to plan for.

I could use some input on this.

Questions for discussion.

Should we wait for college to be in session to have brew fest?

If we would like to plan a Fest soon what are some suggested dates? Tell me what weekend is good for you. Majority rules!

Do I have any volunteers for this? This would involve having a Brew Fest planning meeting at the bar of my choice.

Any other comments?

January 2009 Brew Log

Big turn out for such inhospitable night. We also celebrated the 6th anniversary of the Stateline Brewing Society and Trent’s birthday. Birthdays require cake and Ryan gives the cake 3 Naaam Naaaaums! I also gave away some Makers Mark promotional items I acquired, congrats to those who won!

Homebrews:

  • Jim Ogren – Bathtub Brown Ale, Dry cider and did I forget one?
  • Curt Meyers – Irish Red, Oatmeal Stout. First all grain attempts were awesome…
  • Chris Karstaedt – Imperial Brown
  • Ryan Cooper – Browna Ale, Coffee Stout, definitely a Coffee Stout.
  • Dave knutsond – Marzen. Rescued from near death.

Thanks to those that brought commercial beers to sample.

December 2008 Brew Log

Smallish turnout for a meeting but a big turn out for December. Andy, Ryan, Chris, Kurt, Mike, Randy and Trent. Thanks to Chris for the brews, home and bought. We did impliment “Beer School” for this meeting. This included beer analysis for an off flavor and comparing beers against there style guidelines.  To sum up, we geeked out on the laptop, drank beer and were merry.

Ideas we should be working on for SBS Click more to read the rest of this post. (more…)
